Andy McCommish

Some Scoutmasters--few, thank goodness--seem to think they're the windshield and Scouts are the bugs. Ouch! What goes on in the so-called brains of guys like these, that they want to use their "Scoutmaster power" to trip up, block, and pound on boys and young men who are usually doing nothing more than trying to improve and advance themselves has continued to escape me. Of course, Scouting sure doesn't have some sort of "exclusive" on jerks--they're everywhere and you'll meet them in the workplace, in church, in school, and even in your local Wal-Mart parking lot. In the last case, they're easy to spot: They're the puffed-up ones standing cross-armed in an empty parking space with no car because the car's behind you, trying to get to the spot you have the audacity to block merely because you got there first! Well, read my June 29th column and meet two of 'em. Then, watch for my next column, where you'll meet another, but with an interesting twist...

Keep on keepin' on --
