Official Song of the UK Scout Association

We received the following email today and while it is not about our site, we thought we would share this with you anyway. Scouts around the world are joining an effort to get a Scouting song in the top 40 list, which would put it on the play list for many radio stations.

Subject: Scouting needs your help THIS WEEK!- Pls. forward to all in Scouting

Jambo - The Official Song of the World Scout Jamboree

The Official Song of the Scout Association

Celebrating Our Centenary and The Jamboree

Please forward this email to everyone you know in Scouting

Hi !

Jambo - The Official Song of The Scout Association is currently CD of the week in Tesco Stores throughout the UK. (week beginning 16th July).

We would like to celebrate our Centenary of Scouting with a Top Ten Single and we need all Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, etc. to get involved this week and join our mission to top the charts and show the world that Scouting has the 'S' Factor!

Please go to www.jamboreesong.com and forward this email to everyone you know in Scouting. We need as many people as possible to get the Single or download by Sunday 22nd July so that we can get into the Top 40 - then the radio stations will have to play The Scouts' song and spread the Scouting Message - wouldn't a Number One single be a great way to celebrate our Centenary!

The Official CD is on the shelves at Tesco NOW and the song is available to download at itunes and at The Official Scout Download Site for just 99p!.

At www.jamboreesong.com there is a 'Hall Of Fame' where Scouts, Cubs and Beavers from all over the UK are sending in photos of themselves with their copy of 'Jambo'!

The band, The Adventure, is made up of four Scouts, Peter, Lucie, Nick and Caz. The song was recorded in April and features vocal support from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

We need our Members and the parents of our young people to join in with the mission to get to the top of the charts. We have produced a letter for parents, telling them about the single and how they can join in our mission.

The main ways to get the single in the United Kingdom are:

In the UK, pop into your local Tesco store and pick up the souvenir CD. The CD contains five tracks plus the Jambo video and exclusive Scouting web content and costs just £3.99 You can also order your CD from tesco online!

Outside the UK, you can order your copy of the souvenir CD at www.jamboreesong.com/world

Visit www.jamboreesong.com where you can download the song, as well as the dance remix and the karaoke track. The tracks are also available on itunes

If you are an adult leader, please download the letter for parents and spread the word about 'Jambo'.

Wherever you are in the world, please forward this message to everyone you know in Scouting!

Yours in Scouting

The Jambo Team

Want to know how readers felt about that Eagle candidate Scout in my July 9th column and his sorry situation? Well, the polls are posted! Check out my column dated July 15th and enjoy the read! The most gratifying thing about the responses to the July 9th situation is the consistency of observations and solutions -- Tells me we haven't taken leave of our senses after all! I hope the troop in question has some Andy readers (though I suspect this is pretty unlikely!) -- They may be in for a bit of a shock.

Brand-new column up -- Check it out! If you thought my June 29 column exposed some whackos who couldn't get it right to save their lives, take a look-see at July 9th! "If you want to know a man's character, give him power." Abraham Lincoln said that. Sure wish I had! I think, pretty soon, I need to write a column for Scouts called something like, "Scout Advancement In The Trenches -- How To Avoid The Land-Mines." Meanwhile, be sure to take a new stroll around the USSSP web site -- Lots of new, and freshly organized stuff goin' on!

Some Scoutmasters--few, thank goodness--seem to think they're the windshield and Scouts are the bugs. Ouch! What goes on in the so-called brains of guys like these, that they want to use their "Scoutmaster power" to trip up, block, and pound on boys and young men who are usually doing nothing more than trying to improve and advance themselves has continued to escape me. Of course, Scouting sure doesn't have some sort of "exclusive" on jerks--they're everywhere and you'll meet them in the workplace, in church, in school, and even in your local Wal-Mart parking lot. In the last case, they're easy to spot: They're the puffed-up ones standing cross-armed in an empty parking space with no car because the car's behind you, trying to get to the spot you have the audacity to block merely because you got there first! Well, read my June 29th column and meet two of 'em. Then, watch for my next column, where you'll meet another, but with an interesting twist...

Keep on keepin' on --
